This page explains what happens to your information when you use Focus Resume. In short: your resume stays on your own device, and we do not ask you to create an account.

The short version

What stays on your device

Focus Resume runs in your browser. Your drafts, photo, cover letter text and design choices are saved in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back. This information never leaves your device unless you choose to share a file yourself, such as a PDF, a Word file, a PNG image or a backup file.

Because the data lives in your browser, clearing your browser data deletes your drafts, and they are not available on another device. We cannot recover them for you. Use Save backup file in the menu to keep a copy. If you use a shared or public computer, clear your drafts and browser data when you are finished.

Files you upload

If you use Upload old CV, the file is read inside your browser, and the text is used to fill the form. The file is not uploaded to our server.

Two features load a small helper script from a public content delivery network (cdnjs, run by Cloudflare) only when you use them: reading a PDF, and downloading a PNG image. Loading a script is a normal web request, so that network can see technical details such as your IP address and browser type, as with any website. The text of your resume is not sent to it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. At the time of writing, we do not run analytics tools on this site. If we add one, we will update this page.

Advertising

Some pages of this site may show ads from third-party networks, such as Adsterra. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads, measure how they perform and limit how often you see them. They may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you visit. They act independently and are covered by their own privacy policies, not this one.

We do not intentionally share what you type into the builder with ad providers, and we limit where ads appear. We do not control how ad networks operate, so if you are not comfortable with ads, you can use an ad blocker or the choices below.

You can manage ad personalisation in your browser settings, and through opt-out tools such as optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to save your drafts and settings. We do not set tracking cookies of our own. Third-party services, such as ad networks, may set their own cookies. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, though some third-party features may then behave differently.

Your choices and rights

Because your resume data stays on your device, you control it. You can edit, export or delete it at any time, by using Clear this draft or by clearing your browser data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data held about you, such as access, correction and deletion. We do not hold your resume, so there is nothing for us to give or delete. For data collected by ad networks, please contact them directly. If you have a question, write to us at the address below.

Children

Focus Resume is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
