Focus Resume Create your resume

Free ATS Resume Checker

Paste your resume, add a job ad if you have one, and see a score, a short list of fixes and the keywords you are missing. It is free, needs no account, and your resume stays in your browser.

Your text is checked on your device. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to our server.

How the check works

The checker looks at the same basics that most resume tools look at: whether you have clear contact details, standard headings such as Experience, Education and Skills, bullet points that start with action words, numbers that show results, dates, a sensible length, and weak phrases such as "responsible for". If you add a job ad, it also lists the words that appear most in the ad and checks whether they appear in your resume.

What it cannot do

No tool can tell you exactly how a particular employer's system will rank you. Different companies use different software, and many of them rely on people to make the final choice. A high score also does not mean the content is strong. Use the score as a guide, and put your effort into clear writing and real results. Add a keyword only if it is true for you.

Questions

Can I upload a PDF?

Yes. PDF, Word (.docx) and text files work. A scanned PDF that is only a picture cannot be read. In that case, paste the text instead.

Is my resume stored anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser. To read a PDF, the page loads a small helper script from a public content delivery network, but the text of your resume is not sent to it.

Why did my score drop after I uploaded a PDF?

Some PDFs lose their bullet points or headings when the text is read. If so, paste the text instead, or build a clean version in the free builder.
